There's a bright side!

Melanie just learned how to pull plugs out of the wall. This quickly became one of her favorite things to do. When I set her down, she would immediately go for the perimeter of the room and start pulling out anything she could get her hands on. I do my best to keep her away from them, but every once in a while she's a little too quick for me.

Well, yesterday I was folding some laundry and Melanie discovered an appliance plugged into the wall that she had never pulled out before - the carbon monoxide detector. It's pretty chunky, and I was honestly surprised that she was even able to pull it out of the wall, but sure enough, she did - and it let out a high pitched incessant squeal. It scared Melanie to death. I hurried and plugged it back into the wall, but it was too late and she was officially spooked for the next few minutes. The bright side of the story - she hasn't pulled any plugs out of the wall since.

Here we go again . . .

Alright, I'm officially terrible at keeping a blog - but I'm going to try to be better. Now that Melanie is 9 months old, the guilt of not having her life better documented has finally reached the point of moving me to action. So I'm going to start with a big post of photos and I'm going to count that as making me up to date - that works, right?

It's a GIRL!!!! . . . probably!

We had an ultrasound yesterday and it looks like a girl! At 15 weeks there is still a margin for error, but the pictures definitely look like a little girl to me, and usually I can't figure out what anything on an ultrasound is supposed to be. Here are the pictures. Enjoy!

Yeah, I'm not good at keeping this up . . .

So, reading all of my friends' blogs has inspired me to make an updated post to my own. I started this a while back (obviously) but haven't posted in almost a year. The tricky thing about keeping a blog when you're married without children is the fact that husbands and wives rarely sit around a take pictures of each other . . . and if they ever do they're even more rarely blog-appropriate, and a blog without pictures is pretty bland. So I'm going to post pictures of something I did last month -

I've been working for Simmons Media Group since August '08 when I decided I was sick of trying to sell electronics that I didn't understand to companies that weren't big enough to actually use them. In my current job I work with businesses of all sizes to design radio campaigns which is WAY more exciting. The two stations I work with are 1280 the Zone and Jack 103.1 FM. I have clients all the way from one man insurance agencies to Les Olson Company and The University of Utah Credit Union.

In February we put together a fund-raiser for the American Heart Association. It was called the "Bubblin' Tub o' Love". The morning show from our sports station spent the morning in a hot tub on State Street with a few of our lovely Zone Girls while the station reps sold donated gifts from some of our clients at discounted rates and 100% of the proceeds went to The American Heart Association. It was a lot of fun for a good cause.

No two days at my job are alike . . . and not a single day is like a day at any other job in the world. It rocks!

Bridal Pictures

I got my bridal pictures taken last weekend and I thought I'd post a couple of my favorites. For those of you who've lost count, it's 69 days until the wedding and counting. :)

Just a little update

I haven't really told anyone about this blog, so I don't imagine that anyone will actually check it, but I thought I should throw something up on here so the page didn't look so empty.

First, as a general update on me, I graduated from the University of Utah in May of 2007 and I started a new job with a company called Valcom in October. We do business to business IT sales and despite the fact that I know very little about our products, I really enjoy the work.

Todd and I went on our first date on August 7th of 2007. By the end of September I realized that he was leagues above the 8 or 9 other guys I was dating and we started dating exclusively. He proposed on December 19th just off the cost of Ensenada, Mexico. We're hoping to get married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 7th - ten months exactly after our first date.

That pretty much brings us up to date on the highlights of what's going on in my life right now. I feel so incredibly blessed. I couldn't wish for anything more than what I have right now. I can't imagine life gets any better than this. :)
